ABOUT GOLFO DULCE
Golfo Dulce is a large bay on Costa Rica’s South Pacific Coast known for the remarkably high diversity of fauna and flora that it harbors. It is one of three tropical fjords in the world; at its deepest, the bay is around 700 feet, creating ideal oceanic conditions for its thriving marine life. This bay in the Puntarenas Province of Costa Rica is home to megafauna such as whales and dolphins, as well as sharks and sea turtles.
The fjord separates mainland Costa Rica from Osa Peninsula, famously known for holding 2.5% of our planet’s biodiversity. This area houses rare and endangered animal and bird species, such as pumas, jaguars, raptors, toucans, and scarlet macaws. While here, you’ll have plenty of opportunities to hike and explore the rainforests, especially. Corcovado National Park and Piedras Blancas National Park, boast amazing biodiversity and offer birdwatching and hiking opportunities.
